MORRIS (MORRY) KATZ (1931 - 2010)

Morris Katz, a Polish-born artist renowned for his speed painting and unique style, left an indelible mark on the art world. Born Moshe Katz on March 5, 1931, in Galicia, Poland, he endured the horrors of World War II, surviving the Holocaust before immigrating to the United States in 1949. His early experiences profoundly shaped his outlook, instilling resilience and a boundless well of creativity. Drawing inspiration from everyday life, Katz’s work transcended traditional boundaries and spoke to a universal audience. Throughout his career, he passionately infused his pieces with a sense of warmth and inclusiveness, ensuring that everyone could find a piece of themselves in his art.

Morry Katz was celebrated for his groundbreaking painting techniques, which set him apart as an inventive force in the art world. Famously known as the “Fastest Painter,” Katz’s approach was influenced by his desire to make art accessible and relatable to people from all walks of life. Utilizing a palette knife and wads of toilet paper, rather than traditional brushes, his technique allowed him to create texture and depth with extraordinary speed and precision. This method not only captured the essence of his subjects with remarkable efficiency but also injected an element of spontaneity into his work, reflecting the vibrancy of life itself. CATHERINE PEREHUDOFF

Catherine Perehudoff is a Canadian artist who was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1958. She is renowned for her captivating landscape paintings that celebrate the vast and diverse beauty of her homeland. Inspired by the sweeping vistas of the western prairies, the untouched wilderness, majestic mountains, serene lakes, and the rugged Atlantic shores, Perehudoff’s work evokes a deep sense of connection to nature.

Perehudoff’s artistic journey began at a young age, driven by a passion for capturing the essence of the natural world. Her formal training commenced at Voss Folkehogskule in Norway, where she honed her skills in painting and textile arts. She further enriched her artistic foundation with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art History from the University of Saskatchewan.

Her artistic prowess and unique vision have earned her exhibitions in numerous prestigious galleries, museums, and art fairs across Canada and internationally, including England, Norway, France, Italy, and the United States. Perehudoff’s works are celebrated for their vivid portrayal of landscapes, inviting viewers to experience the tranquility and grandeur of the natural scenes she so fondly depicts.

DANIEL SOLOMON

Daniel Solomon was born in Topeka, Kansas in 1945. Daniel’s artistic journey began in his childhood, where he found solace and expression through drawing and painting. Growing up surrounded by the vibrant cultural landscape of his hometown, Daniel drew inspiration from the eclectic mix of people, stories, and environments that colored his early years. This rich tapestry of experiences ignited a passion for exploring complex themes through visual art.

Daniel’s work is characterized by its bold use of color, intricate detailing, and thought-provoking compositions. His art seamlessly blends realism with abstract elements, creating pieces that are both visually stunning and deeply meaningful. Daniel is proficient in various mediums, including oil paints, watercolors, and digital art, allowing him to convey his unique perspective in diverse and innovative ways.

Beyond his artistic endeavors, Daniel is a passionate advocate for using art as a tool for social change.
